Will you take a moment and play a game of "Question and Answer" with me? I have to tell you before we start; I made this game up. If you're brave enough to play it with me, you might learn something new about yourself. Perhaps we will expose something you didn't realize was buried in your heart that became your truth. There's only one rule that you must follow. You have to be real with yourself.

Are you ready? Ok, here we go.

After you read the next question, close your eyes. Give yourself a few minutes to think about your answers and then write them down. What statements did you allow others to say to you that you decided was a truth, and it is currently stopping you from reaching your full potential?

Now, close your eyes for a few minutes. Think about your answers, remember, to be honest with yourself, and write them down.

Ready, set, go!

Okay, I'll share mine first. I wrote:

  • I am not creative.

  • I am all about rules and structure.

  • I am not smart enough.

  • I am not a writer.

  • I do not have anything to share.

  • You will never be able to do it.

  • I am not qualified.

Don't worry! You do not have to share your answers unless you want to. Also, the cool part about this game is designed for everyone to win if you follow the instructions.

Now, take those statements you just wrote down and rewrite them stating the opposite.

Here is mine:

  • I am creative.

  • I do believe there should be rules and structure, but I also believe in so much more.

  • I am smart enough and have resources available to me in case I get stuck and need to figure something out.

  • I am a writer. In fact, I'm writing!

  • I have experiences to share that will encourage and provide hope to others.

  • I can set goals and work hard to accomplish them.

  • I am qualified for the journey God is taking me on because He equips those He selects to perform certain tasks.

For the rest of the week, let's focus on the positive statements you wrote down. When you wake up in the morning, say your new truths out loud. Make a reminder on your calendar and say them again during the day. Our minds are powerful. We have to remove the negative thoughts from where they live by replacing them with positive truths. I read this quote and hope it encourages you to take back the power of what you believe about yourself.

"Don't let people who don't care about you manipulate your mind, feelings, and emotions, or control how you think about yourself. Never give that much power to someone else."― Karon Waddell

I believe in you and can't wait to see all that happens in your life as you work towards removing the negative and standing on the truth!
